Aztech Performance Series picture windows allow for the maximum unobstructed view of any same-sized window due to the sleek low profile of the frame. It has no moving or opening parts. It matches well with the special shape, sliding, and hung windows to form any combination your architect may design.

Fixed (Picture) Window

Aztech Performance Series single slider tilt has one fixed (typically the one at the bottom) and one operating sash. The operating sash moves up and down and can be locked in the closed position with the automatic safety latch. It is kept from moving on its own in any of the interim positions by a constant-force spring coil, similar to those used in the safety belts. Operating sash tilts in for easy cleaning from the inside of your home allowing ample access to the exterior of the fixed portion of the window. Internal spring loaded screen the size of operating sash included.

(Fixed Casement) Window

Just like the Picture Windows High profile fixed windows do not open. They are used in combination with operating casement windows to ensure superior energy efficiency and uniform look throughout the opening.

All Aztech Performance Series window frames and sashes are constructed entirely from superior UPVC extruded profile. The frame and sash corners are fusion welded into a monolithic unit to provide a permanent seal against air and water penetration. Aztech Doors & Windows vinyl come in the optimal glossy shine which in the long run offers a more attractive appearance and allows for easier cleaning. Fusion welded corners together with multi-chambered frame and sash provide for maximum durability, insulation and security. Our solid vinyl frames won’t rot or warp and are manufactured to specifications with highest of precision. All of our windows meet Canadian and USA standards. They are CCMC approved and conform to CAN/CSA-A440-98.

Glazing Options

Double paned glass

Internal air pocket between two sheets of glass, providing more sound proofing, and thermal insulation. Standard in new construction and renovation projects.

Low-E Glass

Developed to minimize UV and infrared light while allowing visible light to pass through. Better at maintaining stable temperatures in a home.

Triple Paned Glass

Triple glazing uses two Low-E panels and one Low Iron panel to reflect heat back into the home. Excellent choice for colder climates, like Canada.

LoĒ-i89

Excellent winter performance. It allows a high amount of visible light while reflecting heat back into the home.

LoĒ-180

Blocks 71% of sun’s UV rays, and allows 82% of visible light to pass through. Higher reflectivity of heat than LoĒ-i89 glass.

LoĒ-180ESC

A coating of silver, sandwiched between two anti-reflective metal oxide coatings which allows two panes of this type of glass to perform like a three pane window. Meets Energy Star 2020 requirements.

LoĒ²-272

Delivers year-round comfort. Reflects moderate amount of sun’s heat back into home during winter, and also rejects sun’s heat during summer for stability of indoor temperatures.

LoĒ³-366

The ultimate performance glass. A triple layer coating of LoĒ³-366 rejects 95% of UV rays, while maintaining the highest level of transparency.

Annealed Glass

Annealed glass is made using a slow cooling process to increase durability and prevent shattering. When it does break, it splits into sharp, irregular shaped pieces.

Tempered Glass

Tempered glass goes through a controlled thermal process in manufacturing to change its structure. When it breaks, it fractures into small harmless fragments with relatively rounded edges.

Laminated Glass

Laminated glass is composed of two or more layers of glass with an interlayer of plastic, providing resistance to shattering upon impact. When it breaks, the interlayer holds it together preventing fragment dispersal.

Brickmold

A brickmold casing serves as a decorative element and helps to seal the gap between the window or door frame and the adjacent wall surface, providing a finished look and weather resistance. The brickmold frame typically extends beyond the edges of the window or door frame. We craft our brickmolds from a durable uPVC powder compound that is designed to stand up to the harshest elements. This maintenance-free material is available in a variety of sizes and colours, for long-lasting curb appeal.

What’s the difference between Fixed casement and Picture windows?

Fixed casement and picture windows are essentially the same except for the width of the UPVC profile. Picture windows frames are narrower to match the sliding and hung windows and therefore look consistent when combined with them. Fixed casement windows on the other hand would be too thick for those, but they are perfect for awnings and casements whose frames are made wider to fit the hardware inside. Both types of windows can come in any size, or combination to create a design that suits your wants and needs. On their own, they work well wherever the view and cost are more important than ventilation.

What is a picture window?

Fixed windows often look like picture windows except that they have larger and thicker frames. Their larger and thicker frames allow them to match the sightlines of neighbouring operational windows and perform in the much bigger sizes to give a large panoramic view.

Are fixed windows secure

Sealed windows are very difficult to break into. Unless an intruder smashes the glass and alerts the homeowner that they’re breaking in, it’s unlikely they’ll break in through a fixed window. Large windows can be reinforced with extra thick or tempered, laminated glass.
